Ya it's sturdy. We don't like those scabbed on gable overhangs. This overhang is tied in across to two adjacent rafters at every 32 inches and the peak is connected to the ridge board. Great to use as monkey bars. I used to cringe every time I worked on one of those scabbed on gable overhangs back when I worked for other carpenters. They would say, "the plywood with sure it up." This is sure before the plywood is added.
